May 1970, Student-led Collective Action and the Civil Rights Movement: A KSU Alternative Winter Break Experience
×ÔοÊÓÆµ's alternative breaks expose students to social justice and cultural issues through direct service, community engagement, reflection and a variety of cultural activities. These programs engage students in service, inform them about current social issues and encourage their ongoing involvement in social change. In December, students visited Jackson, Mississippi for a trip, themed May 1970, Student-led Collective Action and the Civil Rights Movement.

For Gordon Stumpo, MA ’16, education is not something to leave behind after graduation. His eagerness to learn new techniques and hone his skills has propelled him forward in his career. With nearly a decade of fashion industry experience, Gordon has worked for designers like Zac Posen, Patrik Ervell and Naeem Khan, experiences that provided opportunities to create custom patterns seen on A-list celebrities including Oprah, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Mariah Carey.

This November, members of the ×ÔοÊÓÆµ community joined together to shine their light on philanthropy. ×ÔοÊÓÆµ launched the public phase of its $350 million Forever Brighter comprehensive fundraising campaign in October 2021, and during the first year of the public campaign, a record-breaking $77.6 million was raised. This philanthropic feat was made possible with the support of 10,687 donors, 3,753 of whom made a gift to ×ÔοÊÓÆµ for the first time.

×ÔοÊÓÆµâ€™s Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement launched the university’s most ambitious fundraising campaign, called Forever Brighter, last October, creating communications and fundraising materials that share the remarkable impact of alumni engagement and donor philanthropy on the university. The division has earned 19 marketing and communications awards from multiple competitions.
