×ÔοÊÓƵ (KSU) acknowledges that on September 24, 2020, the institution signed and returned to the U.S. Department of Education the Certification and Agreement form. KSU has used, or intends to use, at least 50% of the funds received under section 18004(a)(2) of the CARES Act to provide HEER I funded KSU CARES Grants-Trumbull to students.

• The total amount of HEER I funding that KSU received to distribute to Trumbull Campus students is $21,727.
• The total amount of HEER I funded KSU CARES Grants-Trumbull that were distributed to KSU students as of January 15, 2021 is $21,727.  
• The estimated total number of KSU students at the Trumbull Campus eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and therefore eligible to receive an Emergency CARES Grant-Trumbull is 662.
• The total number of students who have received a KSU CARES Grant-Trumbull is 21.

×ÔοÊÓƵ is using one student application to be considered for the Federal HEER I and Federal HEER II funding or for KSU Foundation funding (Pay it Flash Forward Grant).

To be eligible for a HEER I funded KSU CARES Grant-Trumbull a student must:

1. Complete the ×ÔοÊÓƵ Emergency Grant Application available at: /studentaffairs/dean/covid-19-emergency-resources
2. Be enrolled in the current term in a KSU degree or certificate granting program
3. Not be enrolled in an online program
4. Be enrolled at the Trumbull Campus
5. Complete a FAFSA for the current aid year AND:
   • Had federal Title IV aid  disbursed (paid) from one or more fund in the term being reviewed:
     • Federal Pell Grant
     • Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant
     • Federal TEACH Grant
     • Federal Iraq/Afghanistan Grant
     • Federal Work Study
     • Federal Direct Loan Student Loan
     • Federal Direct PLUS Loan
     • Federal Direct Grad PLUS Loan - OR-
   • Was offered federal Title IV aid, student declined or did not accept, and is still eligible to receive that aid for the current term.
6.  Request funding for an eligible HEER I funded KSU CARES Grant-Trumbull reason.
   • Cannot afford rent, food, or utilities this month
   • Emergency transportation costs
   • Car repairs they cannot afford, for reasons that began after March 13, 2020
   • Unexpected childcare expenses
   • Books, other course-required supplies, or technology required for online coursework
   • Unexpected medical expenses related to COVID-19

KSU CARES Grant-Trumbull Award Determination

The maximum HEER I funded KSU CARES Grant-Trumbull award made to a student is based on the requested amount and the student’s Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the current aid year FAFSA.

At the time a KSU Emergency Grant Application is received and again when a decision is reached, students are notified with an email to their kent.edu account and their FlashLine Account is updated to reflect the application status.
